Who's That Sister On the U.S. Stamp?



Anna Julia Cooper (also known as Anna J. Cooper), an educator, scholar, feminist, and activist who gave voice to the African–American community during the 19th and 20th centuries, from the end of slavery to the beginning of the Civil Rights movement.   She was the fourth African American to earn a doctrate in 1924.  In 1964, Cooper died in Washington,D.C at age 105.
