Cartoon Network's Adult Swim Ranks Among The Top
Direct TV has hundreds of channels to choose from. When it comes down to it, however, only one channel is my favorite. That channel is none other than Cartoon Network. I have been watching it ever since I was a child. Back then, I used to enjoy programs such as Looney Tunes and Scooby Doo. Now, however, as a college graduate, my taste has changed. Now my attention is captured by its Adult Swim lineup each night. Not only do I get to watch Fox shows such as King of the Hill and Family Guy, I all so get to enjoy original programming like Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Squidbilles, the Boondocks and more.
These aren't your moms Saturday morning cartoons. These cartoons contain blood, gore, vulgarity, sex and all of the other things your mother warned you about. As crazy as the shows are, however, perhaps that is what gives them their charm. You can't help but fall in love with the zany characters and their even zanier plots.
The shows, as raunchy as they are, appeal directly to my sense of humor. I'm not alone, either. The Adult Swim shows appeal directly towards the 18-24 male demographic. The shows, therefore, push the boundaries of acceptable social standards. You will either think it's the most wonderful thing on television or the worst. Either way, it garners a gut reaction from people, be it hilarity or horror. That's what makes the shows so memorable, and makes Cartoon Network my favorite channel.
